Short answer: most Hamilton stag and does happen in Legions, cultural halls, church halls and the fairground halls in Binbrook, Ancaster and Rockton. Before you book, ask who runs the bar, whether you can bring your own food, and how late you can stay. For a spring or summer Saturday, book three to four months ahead. Below are 15 halls across Hamilton, Stoney Creek, Binbrook, Dundas and Waterdown.

How this list works: every detail below comes from the hall's own website, checked in October 2026. We left out prices, because they change, and we left out halls whose websites say they don't host stag and does. No hall paid to be listed. Halls tagged “Lists stag and does” name them on their own site; the others rent for private parties, so tell them what you are planning. Something out of date, or a hall we missed? What to ask before you book a Hamilton hall
- “Do you host stag and does?” Say what the event is up front. Some church and club halls don't rent for them at all, and it is better to hear that before the deposit.
- How many fit with a dance floor? Halls quote a seated number and a standing or dance number. A stag and doe needs room for game stations and dancing, so plan on the dance number.
- Who runs the bar? Some halls hold a liquor licence and run the bar, and outside drinks are not allowed. Others ask you to get a special occasion permit and hire Smart Serve bartenders. Under that permit the AGCO counts an entry fee as an indirect liquor sale, so read its private event permit page before you price tickets.
- Can we bring our own food? Ask whether you can bring a caterer or your own late lunch, and whether the kitchen is for cooking or only for warming.
- What time does it end? Ask when the bar closes and when you have to be out. Cleanup time counts.
- What's included? Tables, chairs, a PA system, setup and takedown vary from hall to hall.
- What are the rules on games and prizes? Some halls ban alcohol as a prize. Raffles and 50/50 draws need a check with your municipality first; see what Ontario says about raffles.
- Insurance, deposit and parking. Many halls ask for event liability insurance and a deposit. Check parking and accessibility for older guests.

A photo booth at a Hamilton hall
We set the booth up during the hall's access time and test it before the doors open. It runs on its own until 11pm, and late hours are $50 per hour up to 1am, which suits halls that run late. Delivery, setup and same-night pickup are free anywhere from Mississauga to Fort Erie, including Stoney Creek, Ancaster, Dundas and Waterdown. See stag and doe photo booths, photo booth rental in Hamilton, or check your date.
Quick answers
How far ahead should we book a hall for a stag and doe in Hamilton?
Three to four months for a spring or summer Saturday, and earlier for the bigger halls. Ask for the hall’s calendar before you set a date with the wedding party.
Can we bring our own alcohol to a Hamilton hall?
It depends on the hall. Some run their own bar and allow no outside drinks, like the Hamilton Air Force Association in Dundas. Others, like Holy Trinity Banquet Hall and the St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Cathedral halls, let you run your own bar under a permit you get yourself.
What size hall do we need for a stag and doe?
Count the tickets sold, add a guess for door sales, then compare that with the hall’s standing or dance capacity, not its seated number. Game stations and a dance floor take room.
Can we run a 50/50 draw at the hall?
Check with your municipality’s lottery licensing office first. Lottery licences go to eligible charitable and religious organizations, not couples. See what Ontario says about raffles and 50/50 draws.
Will a photo booth fit in a Legion or community hall?
Yes. Our self-serve booth needs a flat spot about the size of a small table, room for a group to stand in front, and a standard outlet.
