Photo booth signs: free printables and wording ideas

Short answer: a photo booth needs three signs: one that points guests to it (“Photo booth, this way”), one at the booth that invites them in (“Strike a pose!”), and one that says how it works or what hashtag to use. Keep each sign to a few big words. Our free printable set has eight signs, including a pose ideas card and a blank one for your own wording.

Photo booth sign wording ideas

Short wins. If you are writing your own, borrow one of these:

  • Invitations: “Strike a pose!”, “Say cheese!”, “Smile, you're on camera”, “Get in here!”
  • Weddings: “Grab a prop and show us your love”, “Leave us a memory”, “Snap, smile, sign the book”.
  • Birthdays: “Say cheese for the birthday girl”, “Forty and fabulous: prove it”.
  • Office parties: “Team photo, take two”, “Smile, HR isn't watching”.
  • Prop table: “Props go back here for the next group”.

Where to put each sign

  • Direction sign: on the path guests already walk, near the bar, the dance floor or the door. Booths in a side room or around a corner need it most.
  • “Strike a pose” and “How it works”: on a small easel or table right beside the booth, at eye level.
  • Hashtag sign: at the booth and again at the bar. Write the hashtag in thick marker before guests arrive.
  • Pose ideas card: on the prop table, where people stand while they pick a prop.

Printing tips

  • Cardstock or photo paper, printed at 100% (turn off “fit to page”).
  • Frame it or mount it. A dollar-store frame or a sheet of foam board keeps it flat all night.
  • Want it bigger? A print shop can enlarge the PDF to poster size.

Quick answers

What should a photo booth sign say?

Three to six words that tell guests what to do: "Strike a pose!", "Grab a prop!", "Photo booth this way". Add your hashtag if you want photos shared online.

What size should a photo booth sign be?

Letter size (8.5 x 11) works in a standard frame or on a small easel. For a sign guests should read from across the room, print it larger at a print shop or mount it on foam board.

Are the printable signs really free?

Yes. Add your name and email, and we email you the PDF and show the download link right away. Print as many as you like.

Where should the photo booth sign go?

The direction sign goes where guests already walk: near the bar, the dance floor or the entrance. The "Strike a pose" and "How it works" signs go right beside the booth.
