Typewriter guest book rental in Niagara

A working 1950s manual typewriter, a roll of paper and a card that says "Type us a note." Guests type what they would never write in a book. At the end of the night, roll it up, tie the ribbon, keep it forever.

$99 with any booth, $349 on its own · delivered, set up and collected, Mississauga to Fort Erie

Vintage typewriter guest book at an outdoor wedding at golden hour, with a Type us a note card

How the typewriter guest book works

Three steps. Like the booth, you are involved in none of them.

  1. 1

    We set it up

The typewriter arrives serviced, loaded with a fresh ribbon and a roll of paper, on a small table with the instruction card. No power, no wifi, nothing to charge.

  2. 2

    Guests type

One key at a time, gentle hands, pull the lever at the end of the line. The card says exactly that. The clack of the keys draws a crowd on its own.

  3. 3

    You keep the scroll

At the end of the night, tear the roll, tie it with the ribbon we leave, and it is yours. Typos, crossed-out words and all. That is the charm.

What it looks like on the night

What guests leave in the Typewriter Guest Book

A few prompts to put on the sign, or the kind of thing that shows up without one.

  • "so happy for you both. dance all night. love, aunt pat"
  • "i have no advice. you two already figured it out."
  • "sorry about the typos. sorry about the speech. love you."
  • "this is the coolest guest book i have ever seen."

Included

  • Serviced 1950s manual typewriter, fresh ribbon
  • Paper roll, enough for every guest twice over
  • Instruction card and small table-top sign
  • Ribbon to tie the scroll
  • Delivery, setup and same-night pickup, Mississauga to Fort Erie

Tips from the weddings we have done

  • Keep the card simple

Three lines is enough: type us a note, one key at a time, pull the lever. We bring the card; your names on it if you like.

  • Put it near the photo booth

Guests leaving the booth with a strip in hand are in the mood. The two together are the busiest corner of the room.

  • Let the mistakes stay

A note that says "dansce all night" with the s crossed out is better than a perfect one. Do not fix anything.

  • Frame the best lines

Couples cut the scroll into strips and frame five or six favourites. A long scroll in a shadow box is the other classic.

Questions about the typewriter guest book

How much does a typewriter guest book cost?

With any of our photo booth packages it is $99. On its own it is $349, delivered and set up anywhere from Mississauga to Fort Erie. With the Audio Guest Book and no booth, $399.

      Does it actually work?

Yes. It is a professionally serviced manual typewriter with a fresh ribbon, tested before every event. Manual means no power and nothing to break at 10pm.

What if a guest jams it?

Two keys pressed at once will tangle the typebars. Flick them back with a finger and carry on; the card says one key at a time for that reason. If anything else goes wrong, call us.

Can guests type on cards instead of a roll?

Yes. Tell us when you book and we will bring cards and a box. The roll makes the better keepsake, though: one long scroll of the whole night.

Is it good for events other than weddings?

Retirements, milestone birthdays and memorials especially. Anywhere people have something to say and would rather type it than say it out loud.

How much space does it need?

A small table, about 2 feet by 2 feet, and a chair if you want people to sit. We bring the table if the venue does not have one.
